Deidre Ann Hall (1947- ) and her twin sister, Andrea Jean Hall, were born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and moved to Lake Worth in 1956, where they grew up in Lake Osborne Estates. The twins graduated from Lake Worth High School in 1965. At age 12, Deidre was elected Junior Orange Bowl Queen.
Hall appeared on a number of television shows, including Emergency! and The Young and the Restless, before joining Days of Our Lives in 1976 as Dr. Marlena Evans. She starred in the television series “Our House,” the first performer to star in both daytime and prime-time shows simultaneously. After the two-year run, Hall took a hiatus from Days of Our Lives, appearing in television movies and prime-time shows until 1991, when she returned to Days of Our Lives. Deidre’s twin, Andrea, appeared on Days of Our Lives 1977-82 as the twin sister of Deidre Hall’s character, and in 2000 and 2001 as a Marlena look-alike, Hattie Adams.
In 1995 Hall made television history when she produced and starred in ABC-TV’s Never Say Never: The Deidre Hall Story, a telefilm that chronicled the birth of the first of two sons via a surrogate mother.
Hall served as national spokesperson for the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America and has been honored for her work with other organizations, including Childhelp U. S. A. , People Assisting the Homeless (P. A. T. H. ), and Habitat for Humanity.
Hall’s professional honors include Best Television Role Model, American Women in Radio and Television Award, five Best Actress awards from Soap Opera Digest, three Emmy Award nominations, two People’s Choice nominations for Best Actress, two Best Actress nominations from Viewers for Quality Television, and an Intimate Portrait by Lifetime Television, which saluted her personal and professional achievements.
