Palm Beach County suddenly became smaller in land area in 1925, when Martin County was separated at the northern end. But in the number of citizens and municipalities, the county changed greatly during the boom and bust years:
Before the boom, six areas had incorporated in what is now Palm Beach County:
- West Palm Beach (1894)
- Delray and Palm Beach (1911)
- Lake Worth (1913)
Before the 1928 hurricane brought the boom to a final end, 10 more joined the list:
- Pahokee (1917)
- Boynton (1920)
- Lantana (1921)
- Riviera (1922)
- Kelsey City (1923)
- Boca Raton (1925)
- Jupiter (1925)
- Greenacres City (1926)
- Gulfstream (1926)
- Belle Glade (1928)
